Ram Youth Wrestling
Why Wrestling?
With so many activities available to our children today, why wrestling? This sport, practiced in humankind's earliest civilizations is showcased in both the ancient and modern Olympics. The thrill of one-on-one competition, along with the personal benefits that wrestling offers, are now available to kids everywhere. Wrestling is a sport like no other where self-discipline, drive, determination, skill and instincts are all needed to compete and win in this ancient game.
Anybody can wrestle
Wrestling is a safe, fun and challenging activity for everybody, regardless of height, weight or physical attributes. The whole family can take part: brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, moms and dads. Consider these benefits offered by wrestling:
Self-esteem and confidence
Health and fitness
Fun and challenge
Discipline and dedication
Team and individual competition
Life skills and personal lessons
Equipment:
Wrestling headgear and wrestling shoes are required. Retired equipment can be brought to registration for kids who are just starting or who have outgrown their equipment. Equipment and apparel will be available during registration from Schuylkill Valley Sporting Goods.
Organization Overview
The program is broken out into two segments: intramural and travel. The travel program includes: Varsity, Junior Varsity and Exhibition. All children will be given the opportunity to “Wrestle Off” for a spot on the travel program based on the East Penn League’s guidelines for the upcoming season. These guidelines will be announced at the mandatory parents/wrestlers kick off meeting.
Parents, please get involved!
Our coaching staff, their assistants, and the directors each donate their time in order to run our program. But, they cannot run the program without you. We request that the parents of all wrestlers get involved in some area of the organization. All of you will be asked to select an area or areas of the program in which to help.
The volunteer positions include:
Coaching assistants
Team parents
Concession stand helpers
Banquet organizers
Mat set-up helpers
Timekeepers
Scorekeepers
Publicity
Fundraising
Program
Apparel
Picture Day
Absolutely none of the positions require prior experience. Our only requirement is a desire to lend a helping hand toward making the season successful for every wrestler in the program. So get involved and offer your help -- the rewards are definitely worth it. Committee sign ups will take place at registration with additional needs being communicated at the parents/wrestlers kick off meeting.
Wrestler Responsibilities
Wrestlers are expected to stay in the wrestling area at all times and must ask for coach’s permission to leave the room.
All wrestlers are required to have their own headgear and wrestling shoes. Proper equipment must be worn in all matches. (Please put name inside headgear.)
It is required that parents or wrestlers notify the coaching staff of the wrestler’s absence for matches and practices.
Horseplay will not be tolerated at any wrestling activities. Any unusual or extraordinary situations will be resolved at the coach’s discretion. Facility use is hard to attain, so your cooperation is appreciated in order to retain the facility.
No one is permitted on the wrestling mats with street shoes. Sneakers (with clean soles) are permitted if the shoes have been carried into the wrestling room.
We are guests in the Pennridge and Central Bucks facilities, and we must act accordingly. We request that all parents keep a close eye on siblings as well as their children attending matches and practices. We must respect the facilities and not interfere with any other events being held in the buildings at the time of our scheduled activities. Quite often events are occurring at the same time that can be disturbed easily by noise or running in the hallways.
PENNRIDGE WRESTLERS ARE EXPECTED TO ACT IN A SPORTSMANLIKE MANNER AT ALL PRACTICES, MEETS, TOURNAMENTS AND ANY OTHER WRESTLING FUNCTIONS.
Club Meetings are held each month on the 3rd Tuesday.
